At the Camberwell Sunday Market in Melbourne, bargain hunters rise early to uncover vintage jewellery, rare vinyl, retro fashion, quirky antiques and forgotten treasures. Established by the Rotary Club of Balwyn in 1976, the market blends community spirit with sustainable shopping, giving pre-loved goods a second life.
Valentine’s Day traces back to Saint Valentine, a third-century priest said to have secretly married couples despite imperial bans. Later honoured by the Church, his feast day evolved into a celebration of romance, marked by flowers, cards and enduring symbols of love – many such items that can be picked up at the market or other traditional gifts, like chocolates, are available in the Camberwell Junction shopping precinct.
The market is open every Sunday (except 10 days before Christmas), from 7am to 12:30pm at the corner of Market Place and Station Street, Camberwell Junction.
