Our 50th Anniversary Market Day

The wider Camberwell Sunday Market community attend the celebration of 50 years of the market on Sunday, 30 August 2026.

Since commencing in August 1976 in the car park located at Camberwell Junction, the Balwyn Rotary’s Sunday Market has become a social and cultural phenomenon. Raising over $20m for charitable causes and Rotary projects, the market is renowned for recycling and repurposing millions of secondhand, used and collectible items.

An official ceremony commenced 10:30am until 11am, including the unveiling of a 50th Anniversary commemorative plaque:

  • Julie Mulhauser (President Balwyn Rotary)
  • Cr Mal Osmond-Smith (representing the Mayor and the City of Boroondara)
  • Dr Monique Ryan MP (Federal Member for Kooyong)
  • Graeme Hope (Rotary District Governor 9800)
  • Unveiling of 50th Anniversary commemorative plaque by Cr Mal Osmond-Smith and Rotary’s Julie Mulhauser
  • 11am Anniversary ceremony concludes

Other activities running throughout the day include:

  • DJ sets provided by 3PBS 106.7 FM
  • Live radio broadcast of “Blue Juice” presented by Mohair Slim on 3PBS 106.7 FM (11:00am to 1pm)
  • Children’s activities: face painting, balloons and sensory play provided by Paisley Park Early Learning Centre located in the Camberwell Fresh Food Market
  • Roving Stilt walkers, the Amazing Hazel & Chris from Cirque Mystique
  • Roving performer, Hayley Hoopla from Cirque Mystique
