Visit Camberwell Junction

Travel 10 kilometres east of Melbourne’s CBD and you’ll find yourself in the wonderfully polished suburb of Camberwell. Originally named by an early settler after a district in South London, Camberwell boasts a line-up of Victorian and Edwardian homes complete with gardens that belong in a Jane Austen novel.

This suburb has long been considered a place of old money, but the times, they are a-changin’.

Intersections such as Camberwell Junction will always be home to long-respected establishments and cultural icons like the magnificent Rivoli Cinema and Camberwell Fresh Food Market, but nestled among them you’ll now find boutique eateries, lively wine bars and youth-inspired shop fronts.

On a Sunday, high-energy crowds make up the world-renowned Rotary Camberwell Sunday Market. In a place where almost anything goes, you’ll find young spruikers offloading last season’s wardrobe, antique brooches offered by vintage-loving students as well as old jars being picked up by hospitality entrepreneurs.

Established in 1976, the Camberwell Market has raised almost nine million dollars for the community and judging by the consistently fully-booked stalls, that figure is only going to increase year on year.

Camberwell Blood Donor Centre

There’s a new local in town:
Camberwell Blood Donor Centre

For years, Lifeblood has been visiting Camberwell. They’ve been popping up every few months so we can give blood and save lives.

And we’ve been doing exactly that. In fact, Camberwell locals have been making so many donations that Lifeblood have decided to stick around.

Yep. A permanent Camberwell Donor Centre is coming 19 November. The team will also have a stall at the Sunday Market on 10 November 2024.

Did you know that 1 in 3 people will need blood in their lifetime? That’s 1 in 3 people catching a flick at the Rivoli. 1 in 3 people wandering the Sunday market. 1 in 3 people on the 75 tram.

And you can be the one who makes a difference to them when it matters most.

Lock in your next donation to be one of the first to scope out the best spot in Camberwell Donor Centre (and, more importantly: the best snacks).

Head to lifeblood.com.au, the Donate Blood app, call 13 14 95 to book today by phone or book a donation at https://app.donateblood.com.au/QYD5 online today.

Ministerial Visit

We were excited to host three special guests last weekend to share the unique experience of Camberwell Sunday Market:

♻️ Natalie Suleyman MP, Minister for Veterans, Youth & Small Business
♻️ John Berger MP, our local Member
♻️ Cr Felicity Sinfield, Mayor of Boroondara,

The guests were greeted by the Rotary Club of Balwyn President, Russell Jones; Market Manager, Paul Myers and Market Director, Ken McQualter. A commemorative book ‘Sunday Service’ was presented and the group toured surrounding businesses, met stall holders, visitors and Rotary volunteers.

Yes we are open. Rain, hail or shine

Did you know the Camberwell Sunday Market is open every weekend (except for the two Sundays before Christmas)?

Enjoy #camberwelljunction shopping all weekend and stop in for the unique experience of Camberwell Market each Sunday from 7:30am to 12:30pm.

Gold coin donations on entry support Rotary projects and initiatives.

The market as whole provides an enormous community forum for recycling, reuse and repurposing secondhand goods.

And let’s not forget the famous hot jam donuts.
