Re-opening soon!

The safe reopening of the iconic Camberwell Sunday Market is much anticipated by our stall holders, the local community and our many thousands of visitors.

The Market itself raises valuable funds to enable Rotary Clubs to continue their wonderful work within the community, including with children and families in need.

The timing of the Market reopening is very much bound by various federal, state and local government regulations and expectations including  those in relation to health and safety. As much as we want the Market to open, our priority is to keep everyone well and safe, and that requires careful planning and preparation, which takes time.

We have all worked so hard over recent months to control the spread of COVID, and we should all be very proud of that. We are committed to doing everything possible to ensure that at the point at which we open we have full systems and processes in place to mitigate any risks associated with community transmission.

Rotary will continue to take advice from all relevant authorities and to establish systems and processes to mitigate risk, with the hope of resuming our iconic Market sometime in the not too distant future.

The Camberwell Sunday Market is a proud part of the local community, and we look forward to seeing all of our dear friends and supporters as soon as we can safely do so.

Stay well and happy,

closed this Queen’s Birthday Weekend, but….

Dear Marketeers and Visitors,

Our good work in Victoria has been rewarded with the long awaited go ahead to reopen markets with proper safeguards in place.

As our market is on council land we’re working closely with the local council and hope to announce a June reopening over coming days. We currently remain closed, including this Queen’s Birthday long weekend (7 June 2020).

As you would expect there will be some changes to the way we do business to ensure our stallholders and visitors are safe, but I know that everyone including yourselves will take these changes in your stride. Everyone’s safety is paramount and we need to all work together to make this happen.

So stay tuned, and get yourselves organised because we’ll be seeing each other sooner than we thought.

All the best

We miss you!

Dear friends of Camberwell Sunday Market,

I hope you’re keeping safe and well. It’s been a tough couple of months for many of you, some out of work, some isolating away from family and friends, and others managing the horrors of home schooling. Some of you are our front-line workers, doing an amazing job looking after us despite the risks of COVID19. We are forever grateful for all that you do.

Our market is such an important part of our community, and COVID19 has been a timely reminder of the importance of community. The simple joy of coming together each Sunday, sharing a smile, finding a treasure, seeing an old friend, making a new friend, having a gooey jam donut or a delicious hot dog.

Are you missing the Camberwell Sunday Market?
Because we’re missing you!

The Camberwell Sunday Market will be back bigger and better in coming months. While it is unlikely that we will be open before the second half of 2020, we WILL be back, and WILL be planning a celebration to remember.

Just as a heads up, I hope you’re using your time at home to plan your stall, make your home-crafts, and clean out your cupboards for trash and treasure. You won’t want to miss it! I’ll keep you updated about likely start dates, and the process for booking your stall.

Getting our market back up and running is important for all of us, and especially for Rotary who use the money raised each week to continue their wonderful work supporting the most
vulnerable in our local community and around the world.

Keep your chin up, and your hands clean. Hope to see you all soon.

Regards,

Paul

Happy Easter 2020

Good morning Everyone & Happy Easter!

We know that for many people the Camberwell Market is an important part of Easter Sunday. In years gone past, we would receive messages from people returning home for Easter and just wanting to ‘make sure we’d be open.’

Often coming from overseas or interstate, the Market was part of their family Easter Sunday tradition: it meant being ‘home’.

So from our family to yours, we miss you too and, although we are all in locked down this year, we’re pretty sure next Easter will be a ripper.

Happy Easter and we hope to be seeing you in a few months time when it’s safe to meet again. Take care.
