Welcome back Sunday 31 Oct!

It is with great pleasure we finally welcome back visitors to Camberwell Sunday Market! Our official reopening is this weekend, Sunday 31 October 2021, from 7am – 12:30pm!

Our Rotary volunteers, stallholders and market staff canโ€™t wait to see our thousands of visitors back; browsing, discovering a treasure, with hot jam donuts, a coffee and the music of buskers filling the air.

We will be open every weekend in November and December, except for Sunday 19 December 2021 – allowing Christmas shoppers to parking support our local retail traders and small business owners.

  • Visitors should remember to bring a face mask for cases where you canโ€™t physically distant
  • Use the Market QR Code to check-in and also each stall you stop and spend time at (stalls all have their own QR Codes)
  • Thereโ€™s hand sanitiser at each stall. Maintain good hygiene: clean your hands regularly and cough or sneeze into your elbow
  • Please donโ€™t attend the market if you are unwell, have been exposed to Covid19 or are subject to a CHO health order
  • Smile and be kind to each other!

Market memories: made with love

While we are closed this weekend due to a Covid19 lockdown, we love these memories shared this week on Intagram by Sally @i.collect.eclectic โค๏ธ and reproduced here, with permission.

โ€œPeople always ask and talk about how long theyโ€™ve been dealers buying and selling and being addicted to the thrill of the vintage junk game well this is where I started my apprenticeship Camberwell Sunday Market aged around 8 ..

Iโ€™m now 52 so you do the math ..

Mumโ€™s taken the photo and this is her good friend Isobel with me โ€ฆ
these are the days youโ€™d arrive the night before park the car and sleep in it ..

People would be up all night playing music drinking and even hold the odd fire in a drum ..

If you didnโ€™t sleep over you could return in the morning to find your car had been lifted and moved to a not so desirable spot ..

These were the days of plenty

Iโ€™d buy my mum strings of amber and armadillo handbags to stash away for the perfect Christmas present ..

Iโ€™d trot around in a tiny 3/4 sleeve fur jacket ..they were the perfect full size for me ..

Another favourite were my black suede victorian shoes ..

Camberwell Market has changed a lot over the last 45 years or so but itโ€™s still my favourite market of all time โ€ฆโ€
